Snow Day

I woke up this morning to a beautiful sight.... SNOW! It is the middle of January and we are just now getting our first "real" snow fall of the season. Holy cow what took so long?!? I associate snow with Christmas and am fighting the urge to want to play Christmas music.

So with all that said, I just wanted to share with you all what is making me feel like an excited 5 year old again.

I was in leggings, sweater, and uggs, and fell right into the snow to make a snow angel. I just couldn't resist playing in it. 

Now I am debating how bad I want Starbucks, and if it's really worth the drive... Hmmmm?

diy bracelets

I wanted to share with you all a tutorial I found over @ honestly wtf.

It's for braided bead bracelets and I can't wait to make some for myself. 

Here is another tutorial for wrap bracelets that are super cute.

I made a few of these last summer and loved them.

glitter nail tutorial

I know "love" gets over used on my blog, but I really do love this look on nails. 

You can play around with polish shades and different glitters. I saw this trend over at cupcakes and cashmere and had to try it out.

My cousin was a fantastic model for me to practice on, and we loved how it turned out.

Here is what you need...

- Start with your basic manicure.

- Next use a base coat and then apply 1st coat of your favorite polish to all your nails. 

- Here is the trick to getting the glitter to stick... 

After you apply the 2nd coat of polish to a nail, dab the q-tip in glitter, and tap the glitter onto the nail. Be sure to do ONE nail at at time. Reason for doing one nail at a time is so your polish doesn't dry before the glitter can stick.

 Start at the tip and gradually fade glitter to nail bed. You can add a small amount or go crazy and add tons. 

Since this was my first attempt I stayed on the safe side and did a minimal amount. However, next time I am going glitter crazy and adding more at the tip :)

- Once you have done above step to every nail you can apply your top coat. 

- final step is to let your glitterfied nails dry and enjoy!

I recently moved in with a friend and have been trying to find some boudoir inspiration. We live in a two bedroom house so most of my "life" is fitting into my room. I want to keep the style clean and crisp with a vintage feel.

I will be sure to post photos later, but I am working with LARGE furniture i.e. king bed, massive dresser, and HUGE black standing mirror :) I do it big around here! oh yeah, and there is a cute white desk that I brought back to life from the 80s.

So far I have added a fresh coat of paint, ordered a cute crystal ball table lamp for my desk, a picture from made by girl  for my wall, and am now working on the rest.

Five Friday Favorites

These are just a few items that I obsessing over this week.

1. Victoria's Secret signature crew in coral

I have managed to collect many of VS bright colored sweaters. They are soooo comfy and the colors help cheer me up through these cold winter months. For lazy days they go great with a pair of yoga pants. 

2. Menage a Trois wine

Simply amazing! I have never been a red wine drinker, but quickly fell in love. Three grapes make up this wine: Zinfandel, Merlot, and Cabernet.

3. Night

I bought this book a couple years ago and just got around to reading it last week. 

Horrible I know. Reading is a goal of mine for 2012.

 It's a true story about a boy and his family who were taken from there home to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Very powerful read full of emotion. I highly recommend it. 

4. Essie- cocktail bling

Picked this little lady up last week and have already fallen in love. 

5. sedafrance candle.

This is probably one of the best smelling candles I have ever bought.  I can't even begin to describe the scent to you, but I suggest buying it if you like fresh, clean scents.

They arrived!

I posted on Saturday about Steve Madden karisma flats I ordered. Well they arrived today and I love them. 

They are so nice in person and I couldn't be more in love.
